COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A Collier County judge may have to find a new attorney for accused killer Mesac Damas.
Damas is charged with killing his wife and their five children in 2009, then fleeing to Haiti.
Public Defender Kathleen Smith filed a motion with the court citing a conflict of interest saying the Public Defender’s Office cannot adequately or ethically continue to represent Damas.
There is no word on who the judge will choose to replace them.
If convicted, Damas could face the death penalty.
