Law enforcement riders honor fallen heroes for 9th year

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – For the 9th year in a row, the Defender Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club of Charlotte County, will host their annual Darla Lathrem Fallen Heroes BBQ & Poker Run.

The event and ride is open to all vehicles, not just motorcycles. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 with kickstands up at 10 a.m. tickets are $15 a bike and $25 a couple, with all proceeds going to the Fallen Heroes Fund.

Several door prizes and raffle items will also be auctioned off, including a Taurus 840, 40 caliber hand gun and a Winchester 500 pound gun safe.

For those not riding, lunch and live music starts around noon, tickets are just $8 and kids under 8 eat for free. The event takes place at the Punta Gorda American Legion Post 103 located at 2101 Taylor Road.
