Three Oaks Murder case to be featured on Deadly Sins series

Published: Updated:

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The murder of a Lee County woman, is now gaining national attention.

Debra Striano was murdered in her Three Oaks home almost three years ago. Her killer was sentenced to life in prison.

But the Investigation Discovery Channel thinks there’s more to her murder.

“There is more to the story than I believe,” said her niece Lindsey.

Striano was murdered three years ago, in her San Carlos Park home. Her throat slit, almost to the point of decapitation.

Today, one of Striano’s killers sits behind bars, with a life sentence. But her story is far from over.

“We are going to make sure we never forget about her,” said Lindsey.

This weekend, the Identification Discovery Channel will air an episode on Striano, as part of their Deadly Sin series.

“It was a deadly sin, and it was based off of greed. And greed is the category it’s going to be in,” said Lindsey.

Investigators always said, Striano was murdered over money.

Striano’s boyfriend Russell Myers, supposedly bragged to his lover about having thousands of dollars in the home. During the trial, that lover, Allison Jaye, testified that she told her brother, Dustin Jaye, and uncle Billy Ray Retherford, about the cash.

The two killed Striano while looking for that money. Jaye was handed a life sentence for Striano’s murder.

Retherford was killed in a shootout with deputies. The money they were looking for, was never found.

Lindsey says, “there are a lot of unanswered questions. I’m hoping someone in our community has heard something, maybe heard something back in 2012, that they didn’t wish to share, but they wish to share.”

The Debra Striano episode will air Saturday at 9 p.m. on the Investigation Discovery Channel.
It’s called Sunshine State Delirium.
