“Smoke on the Water” cooks up another delicious year

FORT MYERS, Fla. – If you like award winning BBQ, live music and cold beer, the downtown Fort Myers River District is the perfect spot for you this weekend.

More than 30 teams, have arrived in Fort Myers for the 2nd annual Smoke on the Water competition. Teams will compete for a purse of $13,000 by turning in their best dessert and BBQ throughout the weekend. All for a chance of taking home first place in their category and best overall grand champion.

Smoke on the Water is a Florida Barbeque Association sanctioned event, meaning the grand champion also wins an invite to qualify for the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbeque.

The excitement kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. with live music from “The Nowhere Band,” continuing into Saturday when gates open at 11 a.m. witH live music from: “Unforgiven,” “Grayson Rogers,” “Redemption SWFL,” and “Sheena Brook.

Smoke on the Water is a free event and takes place on Edwards and Hendry Streets in the downtown River District of Fort Myers. Proceeds from the event go to support the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
