Suspects sought in cloned credit card fraud

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who used a cloned credit card to make hundreds of dollars in fraudulent purchases.

Investigators say the victim tried to use her debit card at a local store when her purchase was declined.  She immediately contacted her bank, and found out that the card had been blocked due to suspicious purchase activity.

Authorities say the victim’s debit card number had been used to purchase an eight-person tent at Bass Pro Shops at the Gulf Coast Town Center, more than $100 in liquor at a Cape Coral Publix store, and lunch at Quizno’s.

Additional charges were attempted, but were declined.  Each of the fraudulent purchases were made with the victim’s debit card number, despite the fact that she still had physical possession of her debit card.  It’s unknown where or when her card’s information was electronically compromised.

Surveillance cameras captured images of two suspects who made the purchases at Bass Pro Shop, Publix and Quiznos using her cloned card information.  They are both described as Cuban, ranging in age from 40 to 45 years old, with the male weighing approximately 230 pounds and the female weighing roughly 165 pounds.  They may be driving a newer model dark grey or black Toyota Camry.
