Memorial Day activities in Cape Coral

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Ralph Santillo, founder & President of the Southwest Military Florida Museum and Library stopped by the WINK studio to talk about Memorial Day activities in Cape Coral.

Activities start on Saturday, 100 WW II and Korean Vets go to the Miracle Ball Game.

On Monday at 1 p.m. Cape Coral will be designated as a ‘Purple Heart City’ with proclamation by Mayor, Marni Sawicki. There is a New flag pole ceremony and some entertainment. Military Banners on Cape Coral Parkway will be finished as well.

The idea behind designating a city a ‘Purple Heart City’, is honoring residents who have received a Purple Heart during their service in one of the United States military branches.

Cape Coral officials will issue a proclamation on Memorial Day weekend.
