FORT MYERS, Fla. – This year forecasters are calling for a below average hurricane season, but a reminder: it only takes one direct hit, to ruin our year.
This is the seasonal forecast put out from Colorado State University. It is calling for eight tropical storms, three hurricanes and one major hurricane. If that comes true, it will be a below average season. The average being twelve tropical storms, six hurricanes, two major hurricanes.
Forecasters believe a strong El Niño is developing and that it will play a role in the below average season.
