WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida resident says a dispute over dog feces may have led to a fatal stabbing between neighbors that resulted in a deputy killing the machete-wielding suspect.

Zulma Sepulveda, who lived near 46-year-old Amado Lago and 60-year-old Mauro Londono in suburban West Palm Beach, tells local media outlets the two neighbors had recently been fighting over Londono’s dog leaving waste in Lago’s yard. She says the two previously fought over a similar incident eight months ago.

Authorities say Lago fatally stabbed Londono and cut a woman with a machete Wednesday night.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says deputies repeatedly told Lago to drop the machete, but that he refused. Bradshaw says Lago lunged at the deputy attending to Londono’s body, causing the other deputy to shoot Lago.
