
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A man is recovering after having been bitten by a shark while he was surfing at Deerfield Beach.
Broward County Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Jachles tells local media that 21-year-old Peter Kirn was surfing Monday afternoon when a five-foot spinner shark bit his foot. He was near the Deerfield Beach fishing pier.
Kirn paddled back to shore and received aid from lifeguards, who called 911. He was taken to Broward Health North with non-life-threatening injuries.
