Bonita Springs DeLorean dealership embraces ‘Back to the Future’ day

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- Wednesday is being dubbed “Back to the Future” Day by many fans of the famous movie series.

October 21, 2015 is the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown landed in the future after transforming a DeLorean into a time machine. If you’re a fan of the iconic movie, you may be able to buy your very own model in Southwest Florida.

Tony Ierardi owns DeLorean Motor Company in Bonita Springs. He has 25-30 of them, including the first DeLorean ever made.

“I was a fan of the car when I was a kid, actually before ‘Back to the Future’ came out,” Ierardi said.

A “Back to the Future” fan came out to the dealership Wednesday to see the cars.

“At the time it was kind of the ultimate car because it was so unreachable for most folks,” said John Gorne.

The classics at DeLorean Motor Company don’t have a flux capacitor, but “Back to the Future” fans still ask.

“If you own a  DeLorean you got to be prepared for a lot of questions,” Ierardi said.

WINK News reporter Morgan Frances got to drive one of the DeLoreans at the dealership. She didn’t hit 88 miles an hour like in the movie but said it was a “heavy” experience.
