COCOA, Fla. (AP) – A community college along Florida’s Space Coast has lifted a lockdown after receiving clearance from law enforcement that a threat of gun violence is over.

Officials with Eastern Florida State College said Tuesday that the Cocoa, Florida, campus is safe, though classes are canceled for the rest of the day.

College officials had issued a warning to students after receiving the threat Tuesday morning. The warning urged students to stay inside and lock doors until further notice but gave no other details.

The notice said sheriff’s deputies were investigating the threat.

The public college offers technical degrees and bachelor’s degrees to students located primarily in Brevard County.
