NAPLES, Fla – One person is dead and another is behind bars following a crash in Golden Gate Estates on Golden Gate Boulevard Saturday night. The crash happened just after 7 p.m, near 27th ST SW. Florida Highway Patrol officials say Rene Miles, 40, was traveling eastbound when he hit a Dodge Durango in front of him, causing that vehicle to travel into oncoming traffic. The Durango collided with a Honda Odyssey heading westbound on Golden Gate Boulevard, and caused the Odyssey to flip. The driver of the Honda, James Riner II, 33, was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Durango is in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital. Miles faces a slew of charges including DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash with a fatality.
