LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. (AP) – Coast Guard officials in South Florida say 13 people have been rescued from a sinking yacht off the coast of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

Multiple news outlets report the people were rescued Monday evening after their 106-foot yacht began sinking.

Petty Officer Jon-Paul Rios says the Coast Guard responded after getting a call that the motor yacht named Serena III was taking on water. Rios says it’s unclear why the boat was taking on water.

Rescuers deployed a boat from the Fort Lauderdale station, a cutter and a helicopter. No one was injured.

Rios says the boat will be towed.
