NAPLES, Fla.- A student was held at knife-point on her way to school early Wednesday morning in East Naples, Collier County deputies said.

The girl told deputies she was walking on a path between Whistlers Cove and Naples Manor when a man grabbed her from behind and put a knife to her throat, threatening to cut her if she moved.

The man began walking the victim back to Whistler’s Cove when another woman walked onto the path and the suspect took off running, deputies said. The victim was not injured.

“Frankly, I find it terrifying. You walk around here trying to be safe. It just scares me, it just scares me a lot. People walk around here all the time,” said Jerry LeBlanc who lives in the area.

The victim described the suspect as being around 5 feet 10 inches tall, possibly in his early 20s, and wearing a black sweatshirt, deputies said.
