FORT MYERS, Fla. – A man was charged and arrested Monday for robbing a car from an elderly couple last month, Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Davian Green, 18, was charged with robbery, aggravated battery of an elderly person and possession of a weapon. He was one of a suspected armed carjacking duo, deputies said Monday.

Deputies are still searching for the second suspect.

The elderly couple, 76-year-old Carol Gifford and 81-year-old George Nicol, were robbed at 6634 Sway Dr. in Fort Myers on Jan. 21 when one of the armed suspects approached Clifford, according to LCSO.

The suspect removed Gifford from her vehicle after she refused to hand over her car keys, LCSO said. The suspect jumped into the driver seat of the car and reversed, nearly running over Clifford who rolled out the way, deputies said.

Nicol was hit, police said, while he tried to help Clifford. Green’s involvement in the armed carjacking was not made immediately clear by LCSO.

Deputies said Green is also facing drug charges for the sale of heroin and cocaine.
