SARASOTA, Fla. – Residents in Sarasota County should no longer experience problems dialing 911, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said late Tuesday night.
Callers were receiving a busy tone or automated message from Verizon when they dialed 911.
The issue was caused by Verizon’s circuits. Those attempting to contact authorities through 911 were advised instead use the alternative lines.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said “our 911 lines have now been fully restored. Verizon made the necessary repairs to their effected circuits” Tuesday after 10 p.m.
