FORT MYERS, Fla. – Concerns over 20,000 acres of woods and wetlands continue as taxpayers and Lee Xounty commissioners skirmish over the wording on a referendum about Conservation 20/20.
The first draft of the referendum includes no mention of who would pay for the program, which is currently funded by property taxes.
The chairman of the Lee County board of commissioners agreed that the language needs revisions for clarity.
