HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) – A 10-year-old South Florida girl has been found safe after police say the vehicle she was sleeping inside was stolen.

Media outlets report the incident happened Thursday in Hialeah.

The girl’s father says his daughter was inside the SUV sleeping when he stopped at Torres Tires and the vehicle was stolen around 6:30 a.m.

Hialeah police Sgt. Carl Zogby says officers began a search for the SUV, and found it abandoned a short time later. The girl was still inside.

Authorities say the suspect, 33-year-old Lissette Dopico, has been arrested and charged with grand theft of a vehicle. Police say there is no evidence she intended to abduct the child.

It isn’t immediately clear if Dopico has an attorney.
