1 injured in Cape Coral possible road rage shooting

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- One person was was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound following an altercation between two vehicles on the 1400 block of NE 1st Terrace, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Sources said an 18-year-old drove himself to the hospital with a gun shot wound to his hand after several rounds were fired from one vehicle into the other car, according to police.

Police said the incident occurred between two cars at a nearby intersection.

The suspect vehicle was described as a small brown/gold colored SUV that was last seen driving southbound on NE 13th Place.

Florida has one of the most frequent number of road rage incidents, according to legal experts. An estimated 200 deaths can be attributed to heated exchanges on the roads, reports show.
