FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida man is facing up to 60 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from a prostitution ring that operated out of a Fort Lauderdale hotel.

Court records show 50-year-old Miguel Hernandez and his brother began running the “International Playmates” business in 2010. They recruited many of the women who became prostitutes from Spain, Colombia, Venezuela and other Latin American countries. The business was openly advertised on the Internet.

Prosecutors say Hernandez is also a fugitive from Spain, where he was previously sentenced to six years in prison for immigration fraud. Hernandez fled to the U.S. before serving that sentence.

The brother, Eduardo Hernandez, also pleaded guilty for his role and faces a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Both brothers will be sentenced in July.
