NORTH PORT, Fla. — A single-vehicle crash that injured a passenger temporarily closed off I-75 northbound near mile marker 183 Thursday in North Port, Florida Highway Patrol said. Traffic was being rerouted through the construction lanes there, according to FHP. The wreck happened when the truck that 24-year-old Punta Gorda resident Tyler Jay Brugman was driving veered off the highway, prompting Brugman to overcorrect in a maneuver that caused the truck to flip and land on its side, an FHP report said. Brugman was unhurt, but his passenger, 51-year-old John Paul Maple of Port Charlotte, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Sarasota Memorial Emergency Room and Health Care Center in North Port, according to the report.
