NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Vandals ransacked a local high school, covering its bathroom walls in feces and stealing $5,000 dollars of equipment some time between Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to deputies.
Also among the damage at North Fort Myers High School are a broken window and damaged computer screens. The burglars are also accused of stealing two video cameras. Just three months ago a racial slur and hate symbol were found at a dugout on the school’s baseball field.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it will not be releasing surveillance video from the high school burglary because deputies are still investigating the incident.
A longtime resident living across the street to the school, Mo Picotte, said he is not surprised by the break-in. He said the school has a security issue.
“They are a little lax on their security type thing, you know? It’s too open,” he said.
