FORT MYERS, Fla. — Storm coverage will be lower on Wednesday than it was Tuesday across Southwest Florida, helping temperatures approach a record.

The high in Fort Myers is expected to be 95, two degrees shy of the record of 97 set in 1979. It’ll be humid, too, with heat indices soaring to between 100 and 105 against a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon and evening.

The morning skies will begin mostly sunny and become partly cloudy as lunchtime approaches. Still, most places will stay dry, at least before noon, so make those outdoor plans.

A few spotty storms are possible in the p.m. hours. Lows tonight will dip to near 76.
