FORT MYERS, Fla. — State legislation that took effect Oct. 1 imposes stricter human trafficking penalties and extends greater protection to victims.
One of the measures ensures that any child who is a victim of trafficking is regarded as such and isn’t liable to be charged with prostitution. That provision is key, a trafficking victim-turned-advocate tells WINK News.
