Cape Coral soldiers build home for SWFL family

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Cape Coral army reserve unit braved the sweltering Florida heat in their fatigues to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Lehigh Acres Friday morning.

The 365th Reserve Unit worked with FSU and FGCU students to build a home for a family in need.

The soldiers helped set exterior and interior walls complete with hurricane bracing.

SSGT Adam Englehart said this was their first time building a home and it provided several learning experiences.

“It builds teamwork for the group, gets them working together in a different perspective from our actual jobs as engineers,” Englehart said.

Both soldiers and students agree that the hours of hard work was worth changing a family’s life.
