CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A stolen GPS-enabled cellphone helped Cape Coral police track down three people who robbed a 15-year-old at his home.

The trio came into the boy’s home at 1433 S.W. 54th Terrace and hit him on the head with a gun before making off with the cellphone, a laptop and a small safe, police said. But the 15-year-old told an emergency dispatcher that he could tell via GPS that his phone was being taken northbound on Surfside Boulevard.

Police apprehended the robbers as they were turning from Surfside onto Veterans Parkway and found the stolen items, weapons and a baggie of marijuana in their car.

Cape Coral resident Mallikk Lamont Crews, 20, Raymond Bruce West, 21, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested and are facing battery, grand theft and marijuana possession charges.
