NAPLES, Fla. — The North Collier Fire and Rescue District’s honorary fire chief lost his battle with cancer Saturday night.

Four-year-old Damian Creed fought for two and a half years after being diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer.

The community rallied around him by fundraising for treatment, and bestowing an honorary title as Deputy Fire Chief of North Collier Fire and Rescue.

Damian’s mother Sarah Hancock took to Facebook to share the update.

“At 10:26 pm, my little Spiderman took his last breath after fighting for 2 days,” Hancock’s Facebook post said. “He gasped and struggled for 2 days, but tonight, he is pain free and has gained his perfect angel wings.”
