Red tide continues to affect SWFL

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Red tide continues to plague the Gulf Coast from southern Pinellas to northern Monroe County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Medium to high concentrations of the algae bloom were reported in Charlotte and Lee counties.

Fish kills affecting multiple species have been reported in Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Pinellas and northern Monroe counties over the past week.

Slight respiratory irritation has also been reported in some areas of Lee and Sarasota counties.
