(CNN) — There’s nothing more touching than a just-married couple’s first dance — even when it’s on a highway. An Ohio couple found themselves slow dancing on the pavement Saturday night, right after they got married at a church in Beavercreek, Ohio. They were headed to their wedding reception at Top of the Market Banquet Center in downtown Dayton — normally a 10-minute drive up U.S. 35 — when they got caught in a traffic backup caused by an accident. The newlyweds — who wish to remain anonymous — were stuck on the road for two hours, along with Levi Curby, their wedding videographer, when someone suggested they get out of their vehicle and dance right there on the road. Curby — who was about two cars behind the couple — said it all started when people noticed the bride’s wedding dress. “It was actually some strangers from Kansas,” Curby told CNN. “They noticed the wedding dress and asked what (the newlyweds) would be doing if they weren’t stuck in traffic.” The groom said he’d be dancing at the reception at about that time. So people said “let’s have the reception here and you can do your dance.” And dance they did, as people left their vehicles and snapped photos on their cells phones, while Curby videotaped. They danced for several minutes to Alison Krauss’ “When You Say Nothing At All.” Curby said someone found the bluegrass-pop tune on Spotify and pumped it through a car stereo. “I’ve never filmed anything like that before,” Curby said. “It was a really special moment.” Soon after, the newlyweds were freed from the gridlock when a friend of the groom’s father pulled up in the opposite lane. Curby said the friend pulled up to the guardrail, with flashers blinking, and the bride and groom hopped over and got in and headed on to the wedding reception. “It was amazing that the kindness of strangers, who noticed our dilemma, was able to turn around a difficult situation,” the newlyweds — now on their honeymoon in an undisclosed location — said in a statement. “We are so moved by their kindness and we will always have a wonderful story of how our life together began. We are so thankful for the positive response our story has received. We are relieved that no one was seriously hurt in the accident.”
