GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. — A 24-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to burglarizing a home in Black Bear Ridge community, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ryan Pognany, of Naples, was caught and tased by deputies after a doorbell video showed him trying to break into a home.

The homeowners scrolled through footage after finding their door ajar and called 911.

After a search, deputies spotted Pognany near the clubhouse. Once Pognany realized he had been found, they said he took off running. An officer tried to tase him, but he was able to escape.

A manhunt was conducted and a K9 was brought in. Pognany was eventually sighted in Island Walk, the community next to Black Bear Ridge.

“I was going outside to walk my dog and saw him in front of my house running from something,” said Island Walk resident Ludwig Romero.

Pognany was tracked and tased as he wouldn’t listen to commands. He was transported to the hospital, then eventually the Collier County Jail.

Multiple burglaries have been reported in the two communities and deputies are investigating to see whether they’re connected.
