Sanibel police introduce new app to manage traffic

Published: Updated:

SANIBEL, Fla. A new app provides traffic and beach parking advisories for island travelers.

The “Sanibel Bound” app allows drivers to see live cameras before heading out on the roads, as well as new message boards on the way into the island, free of charge.

“We have five cams located at heaviest traffic points and if you download the app, you can view the traffic at those interactions,” said Sanibel Police Chief William Dalton. “So if you’re coming out for lunch, you can look on the phone and get a live view at how heavy traffic actually is.”

Traffic is at its worst between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., according to the Sanibel Police Department, which produced the app.
