Victim identified in deadly Golden Gate Estates crash

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. One person died in a crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Golden Gate Blvd West and 21st Street Northwest, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Lee Curtis Meyer, 78, of Naples, was taken to Physician’s Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to critical injuries, according to the FHP. He was a passenger in a 2016 Kia Soul that was part of a four-car wreck that took place around 2:50 p.m.

A black 2003 Acura RSX, a 2008 Nissan Sentra, and a white 2003 Acura RSX were also involved.

The driver of the Kia Soul suffered serious injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, according to the FHP. The other drivers sustained minor injuries in the wreck, but were not taken to a hospital. None of the other passengers in any of the cars were hurt.

Charges are pending a further investigation, according to authorities.
