GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. A 51-year-old woman is accused of stealing $20,000 worth of jewelry from her former employer, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gerald Prewitt managed to buy some of his wife’s jewelry back after Miranda Amador, of Belville Boulevard, sold the stolen merchandise to Capital Pawn last month.

“It’s stuff from holidays, birthday necklaces, diamonds, stuff you get your wife,” he said.

Amador broke into the home through the front door with a crowbar, according to Prewitt. She also took $10,000 in cash.

Prewitt knew the Armador because he once hired her to work for his construction and cleaning company.

When deputies discovered the pawns and confronted Armador, she claimed the jewelry belonged to her deceased mother, the sheriff’s office said.

Amador is in custody facing charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker with a $20,000 bond.
