FORT MYERS, Fla. Tropical Storm Ophelia has formed in the open Atlantic.

The system is packing 45 mph winds as of the National Hurricane Center’s 5 p.m. advisory. It’s about 845 miles west-southwest of the Azores moving northeast at 3 mph.

The system is no threat to the U.S., WINK meteorologist Matt Devitt said.

It’s expected to hover over water for the next several days before turning eastward and skirting Europe, where the outer bands of the storm may bring rain next week, according to Devitt.
