Photo via Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office PUNTA GORDA, Fla. A crash involving two semi-trailer trucks caused extensive backups Monday morning on Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The crash happened around 7:13 a.m. at mile marker 167, according to the FHP. All lanes were initially closed, but the northbound lanes reopened around 8 a.m. One truck crashed into the other when they were both attempting to merge, the FHP said. One of the trucks swerved away from the collision and caught fire. The crash remains under investigation, according to the FHP.
