Collier County drivers could see major traffic delays this weekend as race participants compete in the HITS two-day triathlon series, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Motorists should use I-75 to travel north and south on Saturday and Sunday between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to avoid delays. The race will affect areas of North Naples, Golden Gate Estates and Ave Maria.

Motorists on Ave Maria can expect delays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. as the bicycle portion of the race concludes.

Deputies will be stationed at every traffic light along Vanderbilt Beach Road each day. Motorists using this road could see delays as long as 40 minutes, deputies say.

The final portion of the race on Sunday will affect traffic along Gulf Shore Drive from noon until 1 p.m.
