
A 9-year old boy was hit by a car while riding his bike near Labelle Elementary School Monday.
First responders flew him to Tampa. Florida Highway Patrol said the boy has serious injuries but is stable in a Tampa hospital.
A state trooper said one of the reasons the boy likely survived was because he wore a helmet when he was hit.
The boy was with his friends, who witnessed him get hit by the car. They said he rode into the path of an oncoming car when it happened.
Authorities have not announced any arrests related to the incident.
