Road closures planned for Edison Children’s Parade Sunday

Fort Myers Police Department plans to shut down streets in downtown Fort Myers for the Edison Festival of Light Junior Fun Run and Children’s Parade Sunday.

According to the press release, affected streets include West First Street and First Street between the High Pointe Place Condominiums and Lee Street for the Fun Run.

Streets closing for the Junior Parade will include First Street from Centennial Park to Lee Street, Monroe Street, Second Street, Lee and Hendry Streets.

No parking will be allowed in the core of the downtown area along any of the streets on Saturday and Sunday.

The festivities are expected to conclude by 5 p.m. Sunday.

Signage regarding no parking zones and times have been posted around the route.

Anyone parked inside the parking garages or inside the parade route will not be permitted to leave once the parade starts at 2:30 p.m. and until the conclusion of the event.

FMPD recommends to plan accordingly.
