Cape Coral Parkway is south Cape Coral’s main entrance and exit. But come morning and afternoon commute, people say congestion on the road is a problem.

Many people commented on the WINK News Facebook page to share their comments on different concerns involving Cape Coral Pkwy.

WINK News asked Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello about how the city plans to keep people living on the Cape side of the bridge while addressing public concern.

“There’s a few things that we’re trying to do,” Coviello said. “Right now, we’re in the middle of changing our land use. We’re looking for more commercial properties, and we’re trying to provide more incentives for businesses to open up here in Cape Coral.”

Coviello said speeding up trips on Cape Coral Pkwy is a top priority. He said he is in talks with Lee County officials to make the commute on the bridge easier.

City leaders are analyzing their own ideas to speed up the major road on Cape, including elimination of on-street parking and extending the left turning lane on Del Prado Boulevard.
