Police searching for information on Fort Myers carjacking suspect

There’s was active scene with both the Fort Myers Police and Lee County Sheriff’s Office near Colonial Boulevard and Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers Wednesday.

Witnesses say a person stole car and fired a gun out the window as they were speeding away.

Fort Myers police confirm, at 11:28 a.m. a witness reported that a man in his mid to late 20’s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants ran up to a dark brown 2014 Honda CRV and told the driver out of the vehicle.

FMPD Seeks Information on Car Jacking Suspect

The carjacker was seen heading toward Colonial Boulevard and turning right heading westbound, and then turning right onto Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard.

A witness reported that the SUV headed to I-75 where it was last seen traveling North on the interstate.

One woman, who said she saw the incident, says she was almost struck by the car because the suspect sped off so quickly.

The vehicle has damage to the front passenger window and a mickey mouse soccer ball antenna topper with a Florida tag beginning with EAZ.
