Cape Coral Police Department responded to an armed burglary last Friday morning, and investigators want help from the public to identify the suspects and vehicle involved.

According to CCPD, an armed burglary took place at a home around 11:30 a.m. along the 3800 block of NW 22nd Terrace.

“I have no idea why these kids would come over here unless they knew,” neighbor Barbara Nashwinter said. “They had to know that this person had a gun safe or had guns or whatever. Now, I’m all nerved up.”

The burglary victim told police three to four male kids fled the scene. As the group fled, they dropped a gun safe in the driveway of the home, and one gun fell out of the trunk of the vehicle when the suspects were driving away.

The burglary victim confirmed suspects stole a black Kel-Tec PLR 16 AR Pistol (5.56) from the home, and the suspect vehicle appeared to be a gray 2016-2018 Lexus RX350.

Neighbors were worried top hear young suspects reportedly targeted guns at a home.

“It was broad daylight. I can’t believe it because this neighborhood has been very safe,” Nashwinter said. “And we have a policeman living right, kitty-corner over here.”

Anyone with information can contact Detective Costa at 239-574-0648. An anonymous tip can also be submitted to www.capecops.com/tips, or text CCPD+”Your Message” to CRIMES (274637).

Tips can also be submitted to SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. Tipsters are told to reference CCPD Case Report #19-021900.

“Now, we really have to be on our toes and watch everything,” Nashwinter said. “Make sure everything is locked up and everything.”
