Brock Smith takes plea deal for sex with underage student

**UPDATE**

Brock Smith agreed to a plea deal Tuesday morning, and received 4 more years to be run consecutively with the 8 years he was already sentenced to, for a total of 12 years in prison.

He is also ordered to 2 years sex offender probation, which will run consecutively with his previous probation sentence. That gives him a total of 12 years under the sex offender probation list.

His time already served will be waived for the sex with a minor case, but he will get all the credit for time served in his previous conviction.

Tuesday morning, former high school teacher and coach Brock Smith is expected to plead guilty to having sex with a student.

If Smith takes the plea deal, he’ll serve an additional four years in prison for having sex with an underage female student.

Smith is accused of having sex with the victim in a bathroom where she worked, but those aren’t the only charges he faced.

Deputies say he sent another student a naked Snapchat of himself and asked for one in return.

Earlier this year, a judge sentenced him to eight years for that crime.

He’ll also have to register as a sex offender and serve 10 years probation.

The former teacher and football coach at Naples High School portrayed himself as a leader and man of faith online, but these charges paint a very different picture.

Smith has two young children and was married at the time this all happened.

If he doesn’t take the state’s offer, he’ll plea for a bench trial.

Smith will be in the courtroom at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
