Fort Myers Beach marina, liveaboards buy local pizza for Publix workers

Those who work hard to make sure you have food on your table are now getting food themselves.

Snook Bight Marina on Fort Myers Beach ordered pizza from The Sandbar and Grille as a thank you to Publix workers Friday.

“On behalf of Snook Bight and all of us liveaboards, thank you for your great service and your smile,” Connie Baker said.

The kind gesture was a way to show these front-line grocery workers, everyone appreciates their hard work.

“It’s just all about helping each other,” said John Roff, the general Manager of The Sandbar and Grille.

The liveaboard community on Fort Myers Beach all pitched in about $400 to throw a pizza party for their neighborhood Publix employees, while also helping out the Sandbar with some business.

“We appreciate that they are there,” Baker said. “So we just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being there. Thank you for showing up for work. We know this is hard times.”

The community bought 20 pizzas from The Sandbar and Grille for Publix workers.

And, although business has been slow since restaurants aren’t operating as normal, the restaurant gave a nearly 50% discount.

“Anything we can do to help,” Roff said. “The community has been very good to us over the years. We just want to give back as well.”

The leftover money went directly to the Sanbar’s tip jar.
