Julio Adrian Flores Trujillo (LCSO) The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection to a fatal crash Monday evening. Deputies say Julio Adrian Flores Trujillo, 33, has been charged with one count of driving under the influence, one count of driving under the influence resulting in the death of another, one count of driving without a license resulting in death and two counts of driving under the influence with property damage. The crash happened June 22, 2020, around 6:20 p.m. near the intersection of 40th Street Southwest and Vera Avenue South. Upon arrival, Traffic Unit and East District deputies say a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe struck a dumpster in front of a home under construction. The passenger-side of the Tahoe struck the dumpster with significant force, peeling back nearly the entire passenger side of the vehicle, leaving the entire side of the vehicle exposed. The passenger was found unresponsive and having suffered life-threatening injuries, was removed and trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital. He later died due to injuries he sustained in the crash. Trujillo was able to free himself and exit the vehicle following the crash. He was identified by witnesses and, when approached, became disruptive, aggressive and had an odor of alcohol emitting from him. He also swayed while standing, his speech was slurred and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Trujillo was taken into custody and began to vomit in the back of the patrol car. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for medical assistance where he continued to be verbally abusive and resistant. His Blood Alcohol Content was 0.257% according to medical staff — more than three times the legal limit.
