Deputies: Young child fatally shot in Orlando neighborhood

A young child was fatally shot in an Orlando neighborhood on Tuesday night, sheriff’s officials said.

A 911 caller reported shots being fired around 9:30 p.m. and deputies arrived at the scene a short time later. They found the child, who had died at the scene, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency hasn’t released the age or name of the child, but news outlets reported that a woman was heard yelling, “They killed my baby.”

Neighbors told several Orlando television stations that the child was preschool age.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators are still trying to determine what happened. No additional details have been released.
