Community members near the proposed “One Naples” development continue to speak out against the project in North Naples.

Collier County meetings have stretched for hours across several days to discuss what would be a major development for the area.

“I will be on the call all day as I have been the last two days,” Karen Tarapata said.

Tarapata is among community members who have waited to have their voices heard on the issue.

“We’re not against development,” Tarapata said. “We’re against development that is much more intense than anything surrounding it.”

Tarapata and others feel the planned 16-story, 172-unit building doesn’t fit the neighborhood and will cause traffic and block views.

After waiting hours along with almost 90 others, Ralph Cowie finally spoke too.

“That wall to me is very pathetic,” Cowie said. “I think that it’s outrageous that I do not have a line of sight.”

Cowie’s sunset view will disappear if One Naples goes up.

Some commenters did defend the project, saying it’ll improve property values.

“Aesthetic improvements from this project are a welcome change.”

One Naples is planned for the intersection of Gulf Shore Drive and Vanderbilt Beach Road. There is still a along road ahead to the possible development in North Naples.
