An 18-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Hendry County on Saturday.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened at an undetermined time at the intersection of Art Lawrence Road and County Road 80A (Old US Highway 27) in Clewiston.

A man was attempting to cross the road when the 55-year-old female driver of an SUV struck him, causing him to be thrown into a utility pole.

The driver left the scene, but troopers say her car was eventually found at her home in Clewiston and impounded.

FHP is still investigating and has not yet said what charges the driver may face.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
