Cape Coral Police Department is investigating a recently reported armed robbery at a home in Cape Coral.

Family members called police after they said an armed man held their 15-year-old daughter at gunpoint while he took money and jewelry from the home in the 1900 block of NE 20th Ave south of Kismet Parkway near Del Prado Boulevard.

A family member told us crooks took away their sense of security, and they don’t have any idea why they were targeted.

The father of the family said his daughter was home alone Monday night when four armed intruders broke into their house on NE 20th Ave.

The teen told investigators the robbers held her at gunpoint, led her into the living room and made her look out the window while they ransacked her family’s home, tearing apart their furniture.

Neighbors Ray Hampton and Arneteria Benford have lived in the neighborhood for 9 years and never thought something like this would happen near their home.

“It sounds real scary because my grandkids come spending the night sometimes,” Hampton said.

I was in shock because I wouldn’t never thought something like that would happen in this neighborhood,” Benford said.

A similar incident was reported to police in Cape Coral in January. Four people with masks and guns broke into a home on Embers Parkway. Home security cameras caught them rummaging through the family’s couch. Police say the suspects pistol whipped one of the adults and got away with money.

The father we spoke to is thankful his daughter was not physically harmed.

CCPD told us it will be looking at all home invasions in the city to see if there are any connections to this one. No arrests have been made for either reported home invasions mentioned in the story.
