A multi-car crash spawns multiple injuries on Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

This crash happened along SR-78 just east of Shirley Drive in Lee County. The crash occurred just after 11 a.m.

The 33-year-old male driver of a car was traveling west in the left lane of SR-78 (Bayshore  Road). The 63-year-old driver of an SUV was in the left lane traveling east. A truck was traveling east in the right lane.

The car merged into the left turn lane and crossed the median into eastbound, oncoming traffic. The front left of the car hit the front left part of the SUV. The SUV then spun and hit the front of the truck, FHP said.

The car came to stop in the median while the truck and SUV came to a final rest in a grassy area off of the roadway.

The 33-year-old is in critical condition while the 63-year-old suffered serious injuries.

All of the drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in traffic crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
