On Tuesday, Lee County leaders will begin debating whether or not to allow food trucks greater access to Lee County neighborhoods.

Current rules prevent food trucks from operating in most of unincorporated Lee County, which encompasses Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, Alva, Buckingham, Pine Island, Captiva, San Carlos Park and parts of south Fort Myers and south Lee County. If this rule change is approved, the trucks will be allowed to sell their goods in all of those neighborhoods.

While this rule change isn’t about to take place just yet, the final consideration of the Lee County Board of Commissioners would include two public hearings. The dates for these meetings are not yet set, but if you wanted to make your voice heard, you would be able to do so. Mobile food vendors are already being encouraged to check for regulations in place within local municipalities.
